Felix Airways (FXX, Aden) took delivery of its maiden B737-300 at a ceremony held at Sana on Thursday, December 4. SU-KHO (msn 29244), which is wet-leased from Egypt's Alexandria Airlines (KHH, Cairo International), has been used on flights to Abha in Saudi Arabia.

The arrival of the jet marks the first phase of management's 5-year turnaround strategy for the airline. CEO Eng. Abdullah M. Shaaban Bin Silm told the local press that while Felix has historically relied on Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) equipment operating two CRJ200s and two CRJ700s on domestic as well as regional flights, it now plans to operate a fleet of eight B737s by 2019.

In terms of its network, Felix is preparing to launch a number of new routes to destinations in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, the Horn of Africa, and east Asia. It is also planning to introduce direct flights between Sharjah and the remote island of Socotra.
