SalamAir (OV, Muscat) will use B737 equipment to operate short- and medium-haul flights the CEO of the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), Aimen Ahmad Sultan Al Hosni, has said.

Speaking to the Gulf Times, Al Hosni said the LCC, Oman's first, was looking to complete its certification in time for a 2017 launch. Owned by the Muscat National Development & Investment Company (ASAAS), Salam Air secured its business operator's licence from the Omani government in January this year.

Al Hosni added that OAMC has attempted to persuade Salam Air management to use the newly refurbished international airport of Salalah in southern Oman as a primary base. Airline management, however, have reportedly preferred to use Muscat instead.
