Iran Aseman Airlines (EP, Tehran Mehrabad) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for the purchase of sixty B737 MAX aircraft. The order entails thirty firm aircraft with options for thirty more.

According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), the ceremony took place in Tehran on Tuesday, April 4. The first of the jets are reportedly due to deliver in 2022.

The order, if firmed, will be the second by an Iranian carrier since international sanctions were eased last year. The US manufacturer has already inked a firm order agreement with IranAir (IR, Tehran Mehrabad) for fifty B737-8s among other aircraft.

For its part, the ch-aviation aircraft database shows Iran Aseman Airlines operates five A320-200s, one A340-300, four ATR72-200s, two ATR72-500s, three B727-200s, one B727-200(F), two B737-400s, and eighteen Fokker 100s.
