Thai Lion Air (SL, Bangkok Don Mueang) has announced plans to add widebody aircraft to its fleet inventory that, at present, consists of ten B737-800s and seventeen B737-900(ER)s.

In a recruitment poster, the Lion Air Group budget carrier said it would induct three A330-300s into its fleet at some point this year. The aircraft are presumably sourced from the remaining six the Group has on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) of which at least one is due to head to Indonesian full-service carrier Batik Air (ID, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta).

According to sources who spoke to The Bangkok Post, the A330s will be used to open up medium-haul services to Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, and Fukuoka in Japan and Seoul Incheon in South Korea along with destinations in the Middle East and even Europe.

As previously reported, Thai Lion Air will also take B737-8s from Lion Air Group in April 2018 as well as B737-9s. No exact number of the Boeing (BOE, Washington National) narrowbody jets was specified.
