Sun Country Airlines (SY, Minneapolis St. Paul International) has announced it will launch its first ever scheduled service to Hawaii with a seasonal Minneapolis St. Paul International-Honolulu via Los Angeles International flight.

The service will operate 4x weekly between May 19 and August 19, 2018, using B737-800 equipment, the carrier said in a statement.

The company's travel business Sun Country Vacations will offer flight and hotel vacation packages both for Honolulu and Myrtle Beach International, South Carolina, another seasonal route that the Minnesota carrier intends to launch next summer with 2x weekly flights.

Additional growth developments are expected to be announced once Apollo Global Management closes its acquisition of the carrier from owners, Marty and Mitch Davis, during the first quarter of 2018.
