Emirates (EK, Dubai International) will resume its Dubai International-Tunis route on March 25, 2018, following a three-month hiatus caused by a political row between the authorities in Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates, ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed.

The EK747/748 service will operate 7x weekly with a mix of B777-300(ER) and B777-200(LR) equipment, the same as prior to the route's suspension on December 25, 2017.

The government of Tunisia prohibited Emirates from landing in Tunis on December 25 in retaliation for an earlier travel ban imposed earlier by the UAE government on Tunisian women. The Emirate carrier had denied boarding to a number of Tunisian women on security grounds, as the UAE government reportedly had been in possession of information regarding women travelling on Tunisian passports who may be preparing terrorist attacks in the Gulf state.

The restriction was lifted on January 9, following a round of intergovernmental talks, but Emirates decided not to resume the service immediately.

The Emirati carrier is the sole operator between Tunisia and the UAE.
