RwandAir (WB, Kigali) will add A330neo and B737 MAX equipment to its fleet over the coming twelve months, sources familiar with the airline's operations have confirmed to ch-aviation.

According to the sources, Rwandair will add A330-900s originally destined for Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) - msn 1844 and 1861 - in January and February 2019. Both have been secured on 12-year lease contracts with Air Lease Corporation.

CEO Yvonne Manzi Makolo told the Igihe news agency this past week that the new widebody Airbus jets would be used to operate the carrier's Kigali-New York JFK service, tentatively due to launch in June 2019. They will also be joined by a pair of B737-8s due to deliver later in the year.

RwandAir currently operates one A330-200, one A330-300, two B737-700s, three B737-800s, two CRJ900s (to be retired), and two Dash 8-400s.
