Southwest Airlines (WN, Dallas Love Field) has confirmed it will commence Hawaiian island operations with effect from March 17 onwards. Service will consist of flights from the US mainland to Hawaii as well as within the Pacific island chain itself.

As it currently stands, Southwest's Hawaiian operations are as follows:

  • Oakland InternationalHonolulu (daily, effective March 17);
  • Oakland–Kahului (daily, effective April 7);
  • Honolulu–Kahului (4x daily, effective April 28);
  • San José, US–Honolulu (daily, effective May 5);
  • Honolulu–Kona (4x daily, effective May 12);
  • San José, CA–Kahului (daily, effective May 26).

Additional service details, including plans for flights from San Diego International and Sacramento International, and for Lihue, on Kauai, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Operations are on-board B737-800 equipment.

In the Hawaii-US mainland market, the Texan LCC will be taking on Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Sun Country Airlines while in the domestic Hawaiian market, it will compete with Hawaiian Airlines and Mokulele Airlines.
