AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International) has retired its remaining Tu-154Ms on December 24 after having taken delivery of all of the six ex-Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) and Belair Airlines (4T/Zurich) A320-200s it has gradually added over time. It has also used the new aircraft to expand its network: Baku-Aberdeen: 2x weekly A319-100 service has started on May 22 Baku-Amsterdam: weekly A320-200 service starting on August 14 Baku-Izmir: 2x weekly A320-200 service has started on March 18 Baku-Kiev Borispol: 5x weekly A319-100/A320-200 service has started on March 30 (replacing codeshare with Aerosvit Airlines (VV/Kiev Borispol)) Baku-Simferopol: 2x weekly ATR 72-500 service has started on May 16 Baku-Trabzon: 2x weekly ATR 42-500 service has started on May 17 AZAL has announced plans to launch non-stop services from Baku to New York JFK in 2014 when it takes delivery of its B787-8s. AZAL now codeshares on three weekly Belavia (B2/Minsk Intl 2) services linking Baku with Minsk Intl 2 but has given up its codeshare agreement with Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl).
