SKS Airways (KI, Johor Bahru) took delivery of its first aircraft, a DHC-6-300 still registered as HB-LYR (msn 593), on December 12, 2019, the Malaysian start-up said.

"This first DHC6 Twin Otter marked our exciting preparation for qualifying for Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and Air Services Licence (ASL) from Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM)," the airline said on its Facebook profile.

The 41-year-old turboprop was ferried from Sion via Belgrade, Al Ain, and Malé to Kuala Lumpur Subang, where it will undergo pre-entry-into-service maintenance. It has yet to be registered in Malaysia.

Msn 593 is the first of a quartet that SKS Airways plans to use to serve underserved Malaysian tourist destinations such as Kota Bharu, Ipoh, Langkawi, Pangkor, Pulau Redang, Taman Negara, and Tioman. It plans to base its operations out of Kuala Lumpur Subang and Singapore Seletar.
