RwandAir (WB, Kigali) has announced it would restart services from Kigali to London on October 3, 2020, although it would no longer fly to London Gatwick but to London Heathrow instead.

"We have been operating cargo and repatriation flights from London Heathrow during the pandemic, and we are now delighted to operate scheduled passenger flights for the first time into and out of one of Europe’s premier airports. The move will significantly benefit customers flying into Heathrow from other UK cities who then wish to fly on seamlessly to Rwanda and other parts of Africa. It has never been easier to reach Kigali or cities such as Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta, Entebbe, Lusaka, and Harare International for passengers travelling from London," Chief Executive Yvonne Makolo said.

Flights will initially operate 2x weekly via Brussels National, increasing to 3x weekly as of October 25, 2020. The route is RwandAir's first restarted European service.

As it stands, London Gatwick has no scheduled services to sub-Saharan Africa. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, the airport's only African routes are to Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt.
