Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) has emerged as the likely buyer of the SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) fleet of MD-82s and MD-87s. SAS had announced last week that it would have sold three MD-82s and its single remaining MD-87 without disclosing the recipient of the aircraft. The first of the aircraft has now been registered to Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) and will be parted out with parts being used to support Delta's large fleets of MD-88s and MD-90s. It is assumed that Delta also has secured an option for the remaining SAS MD-82s.
