Textron Aviation (Wichita Cessna Aircraft Field) has delivered the first Citation Jet 3 Gen2, around three months after the type received United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in October. The light jet, N800DM (msn 525B-0902), was ferried on January 8 between the manufacturer's production facilities at Wichita Eisenhower and Scottsdale. The launch customers are longtime Citation owners Dave Mecartney, a member of Textron Aviation's Customer Advisory Board, and Shannon Day.

The Citation Jet 3 Gen 2 is the latest variant in the Citation Jet 3 family, which has logged over 700 deliveries since 2005 across the Citation Jet 3 and Citation Jet 3+ programmes. The new version features an updated avionics suite with autothrottles, increased cockpit legroom, seating for up to ten passengers, and an externally serviceable lavatory.
