Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) has announced their intention to join the joint business agreement between JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) and British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) on traffic between Japan and the European Union. The deal will allow the Oneworld members to coordinate schedules and share revenue on flights to Japan as the carrier expands ties with Oneworld alliance members. Finnair’s application to join the Europe-Japan joint venture still remains subject to regulatory approval. The Finns joined a similar Oneworld initiative in March - the transatlantic joint business venture - founded by American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth), British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) and Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas) which allows for greater route interconnectivity between the US and Finland and which came into effect as of July 2.
