Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) plans to legally challenge a Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority proposal to impose a EUR7.6 million euro (USD8.8 million) penalty for an alleged procedural breach of competition law. The investigation concerns claims that Finnair restricted online travel agents from advertising ticket discounts. The airline maintains this is a "misunderstanding" and asserts it acted transparently with travel agencies. In separate news, Finnair issued EUR300 million (USD350 million) worth of senior unsecured notes on November 27, which began trading on the Nasdaq Helsinki exchange on December 2. Proceeds are intended for general corporate purposes.
