Syphax Airlines (Sfax) and local rival Tunisair (TU, Tunis) have been allotted frequencies for a planned new Montréal Trudeau service by the Tunisian Department of Transportation. According to AeroTunisie, while the exact dates for the launch of the flights has yet to be confirmed, Syphax has been allocated a once weekly flight while Tunisair has been awarded two weekly frequencies. Both airlines intend to deploy A330-200s onto the route though at present, only Syphax has the aircraft at hand; Tunisair is still awaiting the delivery of its first of three A330s on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac). It is to be recalled that a joint-venture involving Tunisair and Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga) in which a Libyan A330 would ply a Tripoli International - Tunis - Montréal Trudeau route has been discussed but is still subject to official confirmation.
