Thai AirAsia X (XJ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has delayed its planned March launch date on the back of ongoing civil unrest in the country. The airline's CEO and shareholder Tassapon Bijleveld told the Bangkok Post that the postponement is necessary due to escalating political tensions. "We review the political effect on the market every two months, and until the turbulence eases we will not start."

Bijleveld gave no tentative launch date.

With its recently issued Air Operators Certificate, the AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) subsidiary's inventory currently counts one A330-300, HS-XTA (cn 662), with a second ex-AirAsia X aircraft already being prepared. In anticipation of the launch, one the aircraft is temporarily being used for charter flights.
