United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) has been given the go-ahead to launch flights from San Francisco to Tokyo Haneda by the US Department of Transportation. In a statement, the carrier said daily B777-200(ER) flights would begin effective October 26. As a consequence of the new service, the airline's existing flights to Narita will reduce from double daily to daily.

The US carrier will continue to serve Tokyo Narita from Chicago O'Hare, Denver International, Guam International, Honolulu, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles International, New York Newark, Seoul Incheon, Singapore Changi and Washington Dulles.
