Bangkok Airways (PG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) has firmed up options with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) for three ATR72-600s valued at approximately USD24.6million each. The order stems from options included in a deal unveiled earlier this year at the Singapore Airshow - six firm ATR 72-600s and two options, plus one additional aircraft.
The acquisition brings the total number of ATR72-600s the Thai carrier has on order to nine, the first of which is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year, while the last aircraft is expected by the first quarter of 2017.
According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, Bangkok Airways existing fleet of nine ATR72-500s is used on flights connecting Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Koh Samui, Krabi, Phuket, Lampang, Sukhothai and Trat locally and on flights to Luang Prabang in Laos, Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon in Myanmar and Siem Reap in Cambodia.
