Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino International) is considering various widebody options ahead of the issuance of a tender to either Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) or Boeing (BOE, Washington National) during the third quarter of next year.
CAPA reports that with the first phase of Cebu's widebody strategy - the acquisition of eight A330-300s - now almost completed, the second phase is now set to kick in. This phase entails the purchase of newer widebody aircraft capable of serving the US West Coast.
As such, the Filipino LCC is currently weighing up the A350, the A330neo, and the B787 series of aircraft among its options.
Cebu currently operates six A330-300s with its final two due for delivery by the second half of next year. The aircraft are used on high-density flights to Cebu and Davao locally and Hong Kong International, Singapore Changi, Taipei Taoyuan, and Tokyo Narita regionally. They are also deployed on medium-haul services to Doha Hamad International, Dubai International, Kuwait, and Riyadh.
