Air Comet (Madrid Barajas) has been forced to suspend all operations on December 23 after its remaining four A330-200s had been repossessed by the lessor. Air Comet had been in financial difficulties for an extended period of time already and had returned its two A340-300s and two A320-200s earlier already making major cuts to its network including all flights to San José and Santiago de Chile. Its parent Grupo Marsans had tried to sell the carrier to a Dutch investment group prior to its collapse but the proposed deal has failed. Air Comet had mainly focused on long-haul services linking Madrid with Latin America.
