Gulfstream Aerospace (GLF, Savannah International) has announced it has delivered the world's first Gulfstream G500 (Gulfstream VII) business jet to an unspecified customer in North America.
The business jet manufacturer announced the new generation of aircraft, including the G500 and the larger G600, four years ago. The latter type is currently undergoing certification, expected to conclude by year-end, and is scheduled for maiden delivery in 2019.
The G500 is a new type unrelated to the Gulfstream V also marketed as G500. It has been developed as a replacement for the Gulfstream IV G450.
Qatar Executive (QQE, Doha International) has recently firmed an order for twenty-five G500s and it was reported at that time that it would become the global launch customer. The executive unit of Qatar Airways plans to take the first unit by the end of 2018, with deliveries of all twenty-five jets scheduled through 2022.
