bmibaby (Nottingham East Midlands) has announced plans to cut its fleet from 17 to 12 B737 aircraft as part of a restructuring plan put in place after the takeover of bmibaby and its sister carriers by Lufthansa (LH/Frankfurt Intl). 158 staff will be laid off as part of the plan. It has already cancelled its routes from Manchester to Alicante and Malaga as of November 15, 2009 and will give up its Birmingham-Glasgow Intl route on January 28 and its Cardiff-Belfast Intl route on March 25. In better news, bmibaby will launch three times weekly B737-500 service from Bournemouth to Jersey on March 29. bmibaby has again entered into a sales and marketing cooperation relationship with germanwings (4U/Cologne/Bonn). The two carriers had already cooperated in a similar fashion before by promoting flights of both carriers. ,
