Sol del Paraguay (SGU, Asunción) is planning to use the the lack of supply in Paraguay after the bankruptcy of Uruguayan regional carrier PLUNA (Montevideo Carrasco) to launch new routes from Asuncion. PLUNA was serving the city twice daily also carrying a lot of connecting traffic. Sol has already announced São Paulo Guarulhos as a new destination and is considering adding flights to Montevideo Carrasco and Santiago de Chile. Sol currently serves Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini twice daily and operates a domestic flight to Ciudad del Este three times a week.
