OLT Express Poland (Warsaw Chopin) has now decided to suspend all scheduled flights in Poland with immediate effect. It had originally announced on Wednesday that it would close down its ATR operations by August 11 but continue to operate scheduled flights with its A319-100s and A320-200s. Following the Wednesday announcement, its lessors and wet-lease carrier Swiftair (WT, Madrid Barajas) have repossessed all but one ATR 42-300 SP-KTF (c/n 257) and have flown the aircraft out of Poland on Thursday forcing OLT to shut down its ATR operations yesterday. As of midnight last night, it has then also cancelled all remaining scheduled Airbus flights. OLT Express Poland currently continues to operate several A319-100s and A320-200s on behalf of Polish tour operators. It remains to be seen if it will be able to continue these operations given the recent events of this week. All scheduled flights in Poland were operated under the air operator certificate of OLT Express Regional (Warsaw Chopin) (which has now filed for bankruptcy) with the Airbus fleet also operating these flights using O2/JEA flight numbers while the leisure charter flights have been operating under the AOC of OLT Express Poland using YAP flight numbers. This might explain why it is able to currently continue these charter flights for now. German sister carrier OLT Express Germany (Bremen Hans Koschnick) is so far not affected by the disruptions to the Polish operations, however obviously also exposed to the fact that its Polish owner Amber Gold having reportedly cut all further financing for all of the carriers. Its CEO Joachim Klein has publicly stated it is currently actively looking for a new investor to acquire the airline from Amber Gold.
