Comair (United States of America) (Cincinnati International) will be shut down by September 29 according to an announcement made by parent Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) today. Comair's operations have been shrinking constantly for the last couple of years due to its relatively high number of 50 seat CRJ100 and CRJ200 aircraft and a higher cost structure than at other external Delta Connection carriers. Comair currently operates a total of 16 CRJ100/CRJ200 50 seaters as well as 15 CRJ700s and 13 CRJ900s. The CRJ-700 and CRJ-900 fleets are expected to be transferred to other Delta Connection carriers while the CRJ-100/CRJ-200 will be phased out and parked.
