Jet Airways (Mumbai International) has asked the government of India for approval to join Star Alliance having apparently made an internal decision itself after exploring both Star Alliance and Skyteam. According to statements made by a spokesperson of the Indian civil aviation ministry, the government does not want to allow Jet Airways to join Star Alliance as long as the alliance does not decide on the fate of Air India (AI, Delhi International)'s application that has been put on hold by Star Alliance.
