Israir (6H, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) is planning to launch flights to the United States either with an A330-200 or with an A330-900N, a foreign air carrier permit application from the company to the United States Department of Transportation reveals.
The airline confirms in the filing that it plans to either purchase or lease the aircraft but is yet to start formal negotiations on the matter.
As ch-aviation previously reported, Israir plans to add widebodies to its fleet in 2025 or 2026, and CEO Uri Sirkis said at the time that the aircraft would likely be A330-200s or A330-900s. An initial filing said that Israir would be looking to operate A330-200 aircraft with services from Tel Aviv to the New York area.
The addition of an A330 to the Israir fleet would be a return to the type as the carrier used to operate an A330-200, registered at the time as 4X-ABE (msn 822). It operated for Israir from April 2008 to March 2009, ch-aviation fleets history data shows.
Meanwhile, the carrier has also reached an agreement with the Israeli government that will allow it to start paying out dividends in 2025, a stock exchange filing reveals. Additionally, the agreement stipulates that Israir will take on a larger portion of security financing, taking its participation in these expenses to 7.5% in 2029. The privately owned carrier also waived any further demands for security financing from the state.
