Buraq Air (UZ, Tripoli International) has added an E190 to its fleet to be seconded to its nascent subsidiary Buraq Express, the Libya Herald newspaper reported.

Registration and msn details about the aircraft were not disclosed. ch-aviation contacted the airline for more information. The aircraft could not be traced using ADS-B data.

According to the Libya Herald, the 100-seater E190 has an all-economy class layout and will be deployed to enhance connectivity between Libyan cities.

The airline already operates three dry-leased A320-200s, of which it wet-leases one to MedSky Airways (BM, Tripoli Mitiga), and it has one more of the type to be delivered, according to the ch-aviation Commercial Aviation Aircraft Data module. The rest of the fleet comprises one B737-400 and one B737-800, both leased from AerCap.

Buraq Air resumed operating domestic routes on April 28 between Tripoli Mitiga and Beida. Libyan airspace is closed from time to time due to political violence.

The airline was established as Libya's first private carrier in November 2000, when it started operations with two leased B727-200s operating between Tripoli International and Benghazi.
