The government of New Caledonia has confirmed that state-owned Air Calédonie (TY, Nouméa Magenta) will relocate all of its operations from Nouméa Magenta to Nouméa La Tontouta. The move will align the regional carrier with long-haul operator Aircalin (SB, Nouméa La Tontouta) and facilitate better connections between the airlines. The move was criticised by residents commuting to/from Île des Pins, Lifou, Maré, and Ouvéa, who are concerned about the longer distance between the international airport and downtown Nouméa.
