Solomons - Solomon Airlines (IE, Honiara) has objected to the application of Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) to add a fifth weekly Brisbane International-Honiara flight, accusing the Australian carrier of predatory behaviour. In a submission to Australia's International Air Services Commission, CEO Paul Abbot termed the move a "cynical attempt to dump capacity" on a "stagnant" route to eliminate competition. He noted that 2025 passenger numbers totalled 39,722, remaining significantly below 2019 levels. Abbot warned that Qantas' expansion, scheduled for March 29 using wet-leased Alliance Airlines capacity, threatens Solomon Airlines' domestic network, which is cross-subsidised by the carrier's international operations.
