Air India (AI, Delhi International) has announced that it has spun off its ground handling and maintenance divisions into separate entities as of February 1 with plans to move up to two thirds of its 28,000 employees to the two new service companies. Its two new subsidiaries are expected to start operating as independent profit centres actively acquiring contracts from other carriers.
