Batik Air (ID, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has announced plans for routes from Denpasar to Adelaide International and Kupang to Darwin as part of its initial route network. The full service subsidiary of Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) plans to launch operations in April or May with a fleet of B737-900(ER)s from Lion's extensive backlog of orders. Batik also plans to compete with national carrier Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) on international routes from Jakarta to the ASEAN region, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, South Korea and Taiwan in the medium term.
