Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) has cancelled an order for 17 additional A320-200s that it had planned to lease from Aircraft Purchase Fleet in January according to reports published by Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac). Alitalia had mentioned the cost of its fleet renewal as one of the drivers behind its 280 million EUR Net loss recently announced for 2012. This leaves Alitalia with just two additional A320-200s left to be delivered in 2014. Its short-haul narrowbody fleet currently consists of 22 A319-100s, 46 A320-200s and 22 A321-100s.
