American Eagle Airlines (Dallas/Fort Worth) is to be renamed as a result of the planned American Airlines/US Airways merger, though no specific names have yet been decided on. According to a company internal newsletter, with ExpressJet Airlines (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson), SkyWest Airlines (OO, St. George Municipal) and Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) now flying under the "American Eagle" name as well, the "original" American Eagle will "need to better distinguish and differentiate itself from other regional operators". The memo goes on to add that, in order to placate its other customers, and for the sake of future business dealings, distancing itself from the "American" brand, "would also be beneficial". No exact time frame for the rebranding has been given.
