Air Moldova (Chisinau International) is reportedly in line for privatization as part of modernization measures being instituted by Iurie Leancă's government in the country's aviation sector. The move will likely see Chișinău selling off a majority stake in the carrier while retaining a minority shareholding as a means of ensuring the airline does not collapse from added competition, especially with a new air services agreement being negotiated with the European Union that will see additional airlines servicing the Eastern European nation. Other measures planned include the selling off of all regional airports to private players to allow for their modernization and upgrading as well as the setting up of an independent aviation supervisory authority.
