Air Niugini (PX, Port Moresby) has temporarily suspended its four times weekly flights to Mendi, in the Southern Highlands due to unrest within the airport and surrounding areas. According to Air Niugini’s press office, the unrest pertains to an undisclosed internal issue at the firm responsible for the airport's security. The suspension came into effect on Tuesday, October 29 and will remain until further notice. The airline says that passengers intending to travel to Mendi can still do so via Mount Hagen.
