AlMasria Universal Airlines (UJ, Cairo International) is planning to launch flights from Sharm el Sheikh and Hurghada to St. Petersburg and Moscow, the first Russia-bound routes by an Egyptian scheduled carrier. According to Izvestia, the flights are intended as a replacement for both Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) and Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo) services, which were scaled back earlier this year. Russia still maintains a negative travel advisory to Egypt despite the relative country-wide calm.
