Fastjet (Dar es Salaam) has seen its founding majority shareholder, Lonrho, completely divest itself of the airline's holding company, fastjet PLC. According to Reuters, the stake sold for GBP1.49million (USD2.38million). On Rubicon's acquisition of the group's aviation wing, Lonrho Aviation, in June 2012, Lonrho held a 73.7% in fastjet PLC. However, since the middle of the year, that majority has been continuously watered down, until it stood at just 11.27% earlier this week. Swiss billionaire Thomas Schmidheiny and Swiss investor Rainer-Marc Frey made their first tentative moves to acquire Lonrho in May this year.
