B&H Airlines (Sarajevo) will be rescued by the Bosnian Herzegovinian government following a cry for help from the carrier's CEO, Amir Jažić, who recently described its financial state as both “alarming” and “distressing”. Ex-YU Aviation News says the country's Minister for Transport and Communication, Enver Bijedić, has announced various measures to aide the airline including boosting its allocation of EUR3.5million (USD4.80million) from his department's budget and directing the Federal Civil Aviation Directorate to write off its accumulated debt. Additionally, Sarajevo wants to renegotiate the terms of a lease for two ATR72-200s secured from Austrian banking conglomerate, Hypo Group Alpe Adria (HGAA). The government terms the agreement, which runs until 2015, as unbeneficial to the airline. With Bosnia & Herzegovina at present owing Hypo Group EUR4.3million, government wants a new deal that would result in B&H owing the aircraft at the expiry of the lease. While the privatization of the airline has been mooted for some time, Sarajevo has so far failed to find any willing takers for a stake in Air B&H.
