Dana Air (DAN, Lagos) has acquired two B737-500s as part of its fleet renewal plans. Sources told Nigeria's PM News that the planes were bought in Cairo International. Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) officials have travelled to the Egyptian capital to inspect them before they are allowed into the country. Presently, the domestic Nigerian carrier operates one MD-82 and five MD-83s all of which remain grounded in the wake of a recent NCAA safety audit. Dana Air was grounded on 6 October last year following a mechanical problem on one of its aircraft.
