EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International) could be merged with EgyptAir Cargo (MSX, Cairo International) and EgyptAir Express (Cairo International) as part of a restructuring drive aimed at returning the national carrier to profitability for the first time since the overthrow of the Hosni Mubarak regime. According to the Daily News Egypt, Minister of Aviation, Abdul Aziz Fadel, says the option is still only a possibility with an extensive study of EgyptAir's operations set to go ahead in the next few weeks. Once completed, government will make an informed decision on the carrier's future. A state-owned company, EgyptAir is a part of the EgyptAir Holding Company (EHC) established in 2002. Under the umbrella of EHC, there are three carriers, EgyptAir, EgyptAir Express and EgyptAir Cargo, which operate under the same AOC but which are managed separately and have their own profit and loss accounts.
