Summit Air Charters (SUT, Yellowknife) will deploy an ARJ85 into service to aid Diavik Diamond Mine's transporation needs with effect from August this year. The mine is located in the remote North Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada, about 300 kilometres north of Yellowknife. Operations to the mine's airstrip are in partnership with Det’on Cho Logistics and First Air (Carp).

“The introduction of the Avro RJ85 to Summit’s fleet is a significant change in our business model,” said Summit’s president, Rob Mauracher. ”Being able to move upwards of 90 passengers to and from remote locations significantly broadens our service offering, while still providing the northern expertise in safety and reliability Summit is known for.”

Under the contract, Det’on Cho Logistics, in partnership with Summit Air and First Air, will manage the transportation of mine site employees travelling to the Diavik Diamond Mine from Edmonton International.

Owned and operated by The Ledcor Group of Companies, Summit operates a fleet of helicopters and two DHC-8-100 aircraft based in Alberta, British Columbia, the Northwest and Yukon Territories. It specializes government, mining, exploration, oil and gas operations as well as crew movements, environmental surveys, business travel, Arctic operations, and medevac.
