Compass Airlines (United States of America) (Minneapolis St. Paul International) has announced it will operate twenty new E175s on behalf of American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) under its "American Eagle" brand with effect from early 2015. In a statement, the US domestic carrier said its agreement with American also offers it the option of taking on additional aircraft in the future.
"We're thrilled to begin our partnership with American with these 20 new state-of-the-art aircraft that will allow us to provide a top-tier experience to customers of American," said Compass Airlines President and CEO Richard Leach. "The opportunity to grow our operation for American beyond the 20 initial E175s we have been awarded also points to a bright future for Compass and our employees."
American has sixty of the aircraft on firm order from Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos U.E. Stumpf International) with options for an additional ninety.
The addition of these 20 American aircraft will increase Compass Airlines' fleet size to 62 aircraft, all of which are either Embraer E175 or E170 aircraft.
The Trans States Airlines (St. Louis Lambert International) subsidiary also operates Delta Connection services on behalf of Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson).
