Tata SIA Airlines (Delhi International) has been officially renamed as Vistara (Delhi International), a Sanskrit word meaning 'expanse'. Earlier this year, airline management tasked several advertising agencies with finding a suitable brand name and image for the start-up.

The joint-venture between India's Tata Group and Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) is on track for a mid-October launch with the acquisition of its Air Operator's Permit (AOP) among the last regulatory hurdles to overcome.

Using a fleet of dry-leased A320ceo and A320neo aircraft, Vistara plans to serve Mumbai International, Goa Dabolim, Hyderabad International, Ahmedabad, Srinagar, Jammu, Patna and Chandigarh initially before expanding its network to include Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Varanasi, Kolkata, and Guwahati thereafter.
