Tigerair Taiwan (IT, Taipei Taoyuan) launched operations on Thursday, September 26 with flights between Taipei Taoyuan and Singapore Changi. A 90/10 joint-venture between China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) and Tigerair (Singapore Changi), Tigerair Taiwan is planning to roll out daily flights to Bangkok Don Mueang and three times weekly flights Da Nang starting October 26 and four weekly flights to Chiang Mai starting October 28.

Though it currently operates a single aircraft, a A320-200 (SL) B-50001 (cn 6187), sourced from parent China Airlines, Tigerair Taiwan is planning to operate a fleet of at least twelve aircraft come 2018.

Rival V air (Taipei Taoyuan) is scheduled to make its début by December of this year with flights between Taipei and Bangkok Don Mueang. Using a fleet of two A321-200 (SL)s sourced from parent TransAsia Airways (Taipei Songshan), V Air plans to serve Kuala Lumpur International, Hong Kong International, Chiang Mai, Denpasar, Singapore Changi, Kalibo, and Cebu among other destinations.
