Vuela Airlines (San Salvador International) is set to make its Central American market début towards the end of this month the El Salvadoran Ministry of Tourism has announced.

In a communique, the airline's legal advisor Álvaro Mejía Guevara said the charter and scheduled passenger carrier would use a fleet of two A319-100s - N1821V (cn 2383) and N2718 (cn 2718) - initially with a third - N319VA (cn 2273) - to be delivered next year.

"The first commercial flights will target Guatemala and Costa Rica, and will subsequently spread to other countries in Central America. Two daily flights to these destinations are currently planned," he said.

Charter destinations that are being considered include Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico and, traffic rights permitting, the United States of America.
