Charter Air Transport (Cleveland Hopkins) has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) for permission to change its name to VIA Airlines, Inc. in order to enhance its marketability.
"To better market its operations, CAT is changing its name to Via Airlines, Inc. and registering the trade name Charter Air Transport for continued use in some existing lines of business. The change is a change of the corporate and trade names only," it said.
Charter Air Transport already has a sister company ViaAir (Orlando International), which began operations last year offering scheduled charter flights serving Beckley, Charlotte International, Farmingdale, Niagara Falls, and St. Augustine using E120s sourced from its parent CAT. The carrier now plans to apply the ViaAir brand across most of its operations.
