Air Iceland (Reykjavik Domestic) says it has purchased three DHC-8-400s whose deliveries will begin later this month and continue into August. Once in Iceland, the turboprops will then undergo certification with the Icelandic authorities following which they will commence domestic operations in December this year.
The Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) subsidiary is to use the Q400s to replace its outgoing fleet of five Fokker 50s. It already operates a pair of DHC-8-200s which will be retained.
