easyJet (London Luton) is planning to terminate its flights to Russia with effect from spring next year. Outlining its Summer 2016 operations, the UK-based budget carrier said last week that it would drop its Moscow Domodedovo services with effect from March 21 citing a continued drop in demand as well as stricter visa-approval procedures.

easyJet currently serves the Russian capital from both London Gatwick and Manchester using an A319-100.

The carrier will continue to monitor the situation and may resume the routes should demand improve, it said.

Other operators in the UK-Russia market include British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) (serves St. Petersburg and Moscow Sheremetyevo from London Heathrow), Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) (serves Moscow Sheremetyevo from London Heathrow), and Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo) (serves Moscow Vnukovo from London Heathrow).
